We are living in an age where only 20% of people are getting 80% results. Have you ever asked why would that happen? I have understood the reasons and my 99 days journey of writing content consistently is proof of that. Read more to find my observations.
Why 80% Of People Are Getting Only 20% Results
Recently I got connected with two persons. One of them is making 1.5Lakhs per month as a digital freelancer. The other is struggling to get a job. I am glad I am interacting with both of them closely.
Let’s consider the person making 1.5Lakhs as Jay and the other one as Vijay for better comprehension. Jay invested in every course she felt would add value to her and sharpened her axe.
However, Vijay is in a rush to accomplish something. So he hasn’t focused on polishing his skills and always looking for straightforward options and getting things done first, then fixing them later.
“Jay invested in mentors, learnt the proven frameworks, applied them and grew. Vijay focused on instant gratification or short term fixes.”
80% of the people are like Vijay. So, I did a crazy experiment and wrote like a mad guy for 99 days and today is the 100th day.
Let’s get into why my 100-day writing challenge is fruitless and what you can learn from that.
Biggest Lesson: What You Think in the Ideation Stage Won’t Work
We are so used to instant gratification that we don’t have the patience to follow the right way. The majority has one more defect due to fixed thinking. On seeing successful people, the majority think,
“It might have worked for him, but my situation is different.”
“I don’t want to follow others and do something no one did and uniquely.“
“I will figure out a simpler way to save my efforts.“
Due to this, the majority go with what they feel is right in the ideation stage as they don’t know that won’t work.
Won’t you believe me? Let me share what I did in these 99 days.
- I wrote everything that came to my mind.
- I didn’t follow a proper publishing schedule.
- No proper repurposing. — I posted the same content without good gist on Fb, Linkedin and Twitter. (Thank God, I left Instagram, lol)
- I haven’t prepared an outline before creating content. — It led to unstructured or poorly structured content.
- I haven’t done much research and referred to authority sites. — Referring to authority sites and well-researched content builds credibility.
- No interlinking. — If you are a digital marketer, you know the importance of interlinking for ranking your website.
- I haven’t optimised for SEO. — If your content is not discoverable for search engines, how is it going to benefit you?
Some people even told me that most of my pieces of content are redundant and confusing than general communication. It is all due to poorly structured content.
If you stayed up to here, you probably think that it is all related to content writing. If you stay for some more time, you won’t feel that way.
How Is It All Related To You, Though You Are Not A Content Writer
Irrespective of the field, the blueprint to get success is the same, also the mistakes. Let me relate few things to help you understand.
The majority think, “If I focus on more things, then I can achieve my goals.” And they try to be everything to everyone. It is similar to what I did — repurposing the same content without any tweaking on all social media platforms.
Instead focus on one channel, one audience, and one offer, the results will be massive. I learnt this from Russell Brunson.
I hope you can now relate to the other aspects.
A problem statement without any recommended solution is not our style. Let’s step into action steps in the right direction.
How to Get the Fruitful Results
“Right actions in the future are the best apologies for bad actions in the past.” — Tryon Edwards.
We are all taught not to make any mistakes. So, the majority focus on being right than happy. So, when something is not falling into place, the majority won’t take responsibility. You don’t be that guy and take complete responsibility for the results you are getting now. It is when you start to grow.
Here are the top suggestions I received from my mentors.
- Get clarity over whom to target and what to offer.
- Research to find out who already successfully did what you are planning to do.
- Understand what successful people did and how you can replicate the same to get the same results. You can then improve in iterations.
- It is always better to invest in a mentor who can guide you in your quest and follow them blindly. — If you had known everything to get success, you would have already been successful in life.
Final Thoughts
In simple words, whatever you think in the ideation stage won’t work. So always look for mentors and best practices in your field to leverage them. — Because it is the surest way to get massive results with minimal effort.
Great thoughts on crisp format
