Begin With the End in Mind

We are all in a constant race to excel in life. And the chipset in mind is of instant gratification. Due to this, you start something with high expectations. However, you start realising that things are not as you assumed.

At the same time, you start someone doing good in another domain, and you enter it. Moreover, your belief level won’t be so high due to a lot of factors.

The same cycle repeats itself as you keep on entering new domains, and finally, you end up feeling confused regarding what to do next. Let’s start with the graph of high expectations to understand the context better.

The Graph of High Expectations

In the beginning, the expectations will be high. With time, as you start seeing the ground reality, your expectations start declining. As you can see in the image below, when you are at the 3rd level, you will almost feel like you are not getting everything as expected.

At this point, the majority quit their pursuit. And see someone doing great in another field and enter it with the hope they can achieve their dreams through it. And the same cycle repeats itself.

In this graph, the blue line is the graph of expectations and the orange line is the graph of execution. Irrespective of the care you take, in the beginning, the execution level won’t be at the best level. With time, you become good at what you do and see the reality. So the execution graph raises and the expectation graph falls.

As you keep on continuing in your journey, you become selfless and start working for a purpose. So you expect nothing but executes everything at your best.

You must be thinking about why I mentioned the expectation graph in this post. I am coming to the same. If you pay close attention, the quitting game is there due to focusing on the short term. However, if you know what is going to happen in the long term, you will continue your journey and achieve everything you want.

Begin With the End in Mind

It is one of the seven habits of highly effective people. It means having a clear vision of what you expect from your project and working towards that. Then you will give all it takes and have the right expectations. Finally, you will crystallise your vision.

What do you say? Share your thoughts in the comments below. It would mean the world to me.
