Have you ever noticed that you dislike someone, but some people are crazy about them? — At least they like them so much.

Have you ever thought about the patterns behind why you like or dislike someone? You got me right. It has a lot to do with the patterns.

Let me go to two of my experiences. I don’t like two persons (it doesn’t have anything to do with personal stuff), but people admire them.

Both of them are smart and doing well in their life. However, our thoughts are not inclined much. It made me maintain my boundaries with them.

If you pay close attention, you can understand the secret behind why you follow or admire someone.

I mentioned that our thought processes are not alike. As we say, birds of the same feather flock together, people of the same thoughts and core values hang out together.

So, you admire only the people who have the qualities that you have.

How to Find Your Core Qualities

Based on what we have discussed till now, find whom you are following.

1. Go to your youtube and list out the type of content you are consuming.
2. Go to your Facebook and Instagram and check whom you are following.
3. Go to your Google history and see the kind of content you absorbed.
4. Then look filter it down to the experts who delivered that content and the type of content.

The type of content you are consuming helps you understand your interests.

The qualities of the people will help you to understand your core values.

Action Plan

After listing out the people you admire, you get their core values. Then look at what they did in their life to reach that position. Repeat the same, and it is the shortcut to becoming your best version. — Because your idols are nothing but the collection of the qualities you admire and want to instil in yourself.

Final Thoughts

You admire only those qualities that you resonate with the most. It gives you clarity about your core. Reverse engineer what your idols have done and replicate the same. — It is the shortest path to becoming your better self.

When you look at the prospective careers, look if they have the qualities you figured out. Then you will understand if they are the right choice for you or not.
