How do successful people sell more?
I think sales require some special skills. Probably, I am not suitable for sales.
I can’t persuade people. So I am not able to sell more.

- You have seen people fail in sales.
- You might have tried sales before but failed.
- You might have seen people using extraordinary skills while selling.
If you are losing the game, it is the right time to check if you are committing these mistakes.
1. Talking Too Much and Not Listening
Whenever you are selling something, you are very much excited about the product or service. So you involuntarily tend to speak a lot. Also, the objections must be common most of the time. So, you might be inclined to talk even before they finish speaking.
It will make the other person feel unheard. So they might stop opening up further and feel pushy. And anyone will have a hard time making sales in this way.
There are also the chances where the other person gets closed. But you do not notice it and continue speaking and lose the sale.
The basic rule while speaking is 60:40. — Where you have to speak only 40% of the time.
2. Not Focusing On The Solution
Why do you want to buy what you buy?— To make your life comfortable, am I wrong?
So, every time you speak about your product or service, the other person is always concerned about what they get from your offering. And if you don’t stress about it, the chances of closing the sales become less.
Every time you want to make sales, sell the solution instead of the product or features to convert more.
3. Not Preparing To Face Objections
Nobody wants to listen to “NO” for an answer. It is our tendency. It leads to not preparing to face objections.
In general, listening to “NO” in the beginning excites me so much than hearing a “YES”. As you hear many NOs, the value of YES will increase when it is the right time. So, the receiver becomes serious about what they have.
Whenever someone objects to you, try to find the hidden concern they have. When you communicate and help make the decision, you have more chances of closing the sale.
4. Arguing With Potential Customer
In my early days, when I went on face to face sales, I went into an argument with a potential customer.
Here is the outcome:
- It became intense, and he became so angry.
- I lost the sale.
- Whenever someone new approaches him, he will reject others due to this bad experience.
It means you affect not only you but also other innocent people. It is the reason for the majority of the rejections anyone faces.
5. Not Speaking with the Decision Makers
Here are two chances:
- You either don’t communicate with the decision-makers.
- You don’t get access to the decision-makers.
In the first scenario, you don’t communicate with decision-makers. — As you feel, they are tough to break.
In the second scenario, you have to come up with a proposal that others can’t refuse. In that way, when you get access to the right person, you can save a lot of time.
