How to Overcome Inferiority Complex

Are you suffering from inferiority? Do you feel everyone else is better than you? Are you scared to follow your passion or be on your own due to inferiority feelings?

Let me tell you you are not alone. Also, you are the best in your style. As you know, I am a movie buff. I want to share about a movie before going to the steps to overcome inferiority.

What I learnt from the movie Hare Ram (Telugu) | Overcome Inferiority Complex

I will share a glimpse of the story. Heros are twins and, due to some issue, one person, Hari, turns out to be more talented while the other, Ram, is a poor student. Hari studies well, and everyone appreciates him, while Ram is a poor student. Moreover, everyone tells Ram to learn from Hari.

Due to this, Ram feels so inferior and builds up hatred over Hari and everyone who is cleverer than him. It goes to extremes as well. However, when he goes to an orphanage home, he plays with kids. Ram corrects a kid who did wrong, mentioning that the kid has to listen to him because he is clever than that kid. Then he realises the intent of his parents and starts feeling better.

From this story, you might have noticed that Ram was feeling inferior when comparing himself with people who are talented than him. After being in a circle of kids who were not as cleverer as him, he realised his mistake and became normal.

If you compare that movie with your life, you are also doing the same, comparing yourself with people better than you. But it’s also wrong, everyone has the same potential, but the channels of talent differs.

You may be good at painting while the others at singing or speaking. But if you compare your inability to sing with a good singer, you stop appreciating what you have, finally forget your self-worth.

What to Do to Overcome Inferiority Complex

If you look at me, I have many reasons to feel inferior. I don’t know current affairs. I don’t know how to interact with people. I don’t know how to deal with difficult situations smoothly. If I were to tell, the list becomes endless.

Yesterday, I joined a clubhouse talk where my friend asked me to speak, but I felt like I was nothing in front of the other person who spoke when I entered.

But, all of those don’t affect me. — Because I focus only on my strengths. Moreover, I understood that we are all in different leagues, and there’s no comparison between us. And we shine when it is our time.

This mindset helped me to understand my self-worth. If you are in a place where your worth is not recognised, move away from that. Take you out of the equation.

I know how it feels when others undervalue you. I took a firm decision to be only in the places where my worth is valued in 2018 and stuck with the same. It brought me a lot of peace, and I became more confident.

Final Thoughts

  • Stop comparing yourself with others.
  • Understand your self-worth.
  • Be only where your presence is valued.
  • Focus only on your strengths.
  • Amplify your strengths. Then your weakness also becomes a strength for you.

Did I miss anything? I am an introvert, but I am good at writing. What is your biggest weakness and strength? Could you share them in the comments below? It helps others understand that they are not alone.
