Are you getting started with your endeavors or your career?
Do you want to get the maximum output for your tasks?
Then it would help if you start planning better.
If you have read my post on planning vs. execution, you must be thinking, “why Abhinay is speaking about planning now?”
Yes, I learned a lesson on 4th July, and it would help you if I share that with you. So I am speaking with you now through my words.
Let’s get started.
The Beginning: First Webinar on Bringing Your Passion to Life
I am a crazy person who wants to follow what I love. And I’m not too fond of it to see people giving up on their passions. And I have been an uncalculated risk taker so far. Because of that, I learned things the hard way and cracked the code to following your passion and bringing to life more smoothly without affecting the lifestyle.
With that intention, I started my website and started doing webinars. But I am too lazy. So haven’t structured everything better. I haven’t even done much promotion to my first webinar, but luckily three of my very good friends attended the webinar along with my partner in crime, Arun.
Everyone I know prepared slides or mindmaps for the webinar. But I wasn’t prepared with any of those supporting materials and wanted to go all out.
What do you think about the response of the attendees? Luckily they are happy with the info they received. Here is the link to my first webinar. My bad, it’s in Telugu, but you can skim through it.
I made one mistake at that time. If you guessed what it is, you can pause reading here and let me know. No cheating, please.
So, I will focus on that mistake at the ending.
The Continuation: The Second Webinar on 4th July 2021
To build a community and help more people better, I am planning to do webinars frequently. After seeing the output of the first webinar, I decided to promote it well and did the same for my second webinar.
One of my plans is to give people hope that it is possible for them as well. For the same reason, I am actively networking with people, and I even took time from one of my very good friends. Even though she has a busy schedule, she decided to come to our webinar to share her story.
We planned everything well, and the lion’s share of the efforts go to her. But I haven’t entered the planning stage even on the day of the webinar.
And got everything ready on the same day by taking the expectations of the webinar registrants.
However, I repeated the same mistake that I committed while doing the first webinar. — I haven’t done proper planning.
And life will tolerate the first mistake to give us a chance to learn from the mistake and grow. But if you repeat the same mistake, life puts you in trouble to help you learn soon.
The speed of the troubles is directly proportional to how much life cares for you. Moreover, life is so generous towards me. So, troubled me in my second webinar itself.
The Consequences of Poor Planning
I don’t want to reveal about the guest speaker of the webinar. But she did an amazing job by preparing well. But this is my game, so I am the one who is to be taught a lesson. As a result, there is a power down in Bangalore due to which the guest speaker wasn’t able to be in the call and caused some disturbances in between. Then I had to take the call to give value to the time of the attendees.
But the tricky part is, for the first webinar, even though I haven’t planned better, I was at least prepared to speak in the webinar. However, I was completely relaxed as my friend is going to share her story in the webinar. Just imagine my situation. But somehow, I started speaking by addressing the concerns of the attendees. And the speed of the fan was not upto the mark. Result? — I was sweating a lot. It leaves a remark that I was nervous while taking the webinar.
Including this, there was a power cut at my end as well for around 15 min. But I continued with the session by connecting to the mobile hotspot.
But luckily, I was able to hold 10 participants out of 13 till the end of the webinar. I am happy that ten persons gave me their time even though there are technical glitches.
Here is the 2nd webinar.
But, to be frank, I didn’t add much value to them as they deserved due to poor planning. So I wanted to share my experience not to repeat it and promise that the next sessions will be completely different with more structured content. I also wanted to share the consequences of not planning better.
Now, I am reviving, evolving, restructuring what I know to make the next webinar better than the first two.
Here are the responses I got for the webinar.
Final Thoughts:
Here I am not contradicting with my other post where I mentioned focus should be on implementation first. But it is important to plan your implementations better in order to get best out of everything you do. And it all depends on the way you perceive. Can you afford committing the mistake I have done? Obviously, no. So a a little bit of planning always helps you to execute the things exceptionally well.
Would you mind sharing your thoughts by commenting below? It would mean the world to me.
Nice. You have tried to reach to the sentiments of most of us who feels that they knows everything & can’t required planning in advance.
Thank you Pramod
