Those Crazy 18 Days with COVID-19: My Experience

Are you tested positive for COVID? Or anyone in your known circle is affected by COVID?

“Have you got positive?” has become a routine question on meeting our friends after a long gap.

Many people are facing mental issues post COVID.

I am not a health expert to talk on this subject to bring up this topic. But I felt like sharing my experience when I was tested positive for COVID to let you know that you are not alone.

I would like to share an image before we go further.

Flower Resembling COVID-19

What comes to your mind on looking at this image?

Yes, COVID. Because it changed the way we look at things.

The pandemic made us realise many things in life:

  1. Prevention was considered a luxury, but people realised it is a necessity.
  2. Having a side hustle is not my cup of tea (for many), but it has become the need of the hour.
  3. If you are young, it doesn’t mean your immunity is strong. — Realisation from the second wave.
  4. Time to correct our lifestyle to have strong immunity.

There are many more, but I don’t want to give Gyan in this situation. Because I notice many people are going through mental trauma post-COVID.

So, I felt like sharing my experience when I got positive.

Pre-COVID Stage

Whenever I see a blood requirement post, I want to donate.

In the same way, I used to think if I had an option to donate plasma, it would be better whenever I see plasma requirement post.

But I was never so careless except not being so careful when near the close circle of friends. (Yes, most of us are like this, and I want to admit it).

Sloth used to take me over when it comes to taking extra precautions to stay protected from COVID.

I always wanted to travel irrespective of the conditions due to pandemic.

Universe has crazy ways of turning our thoughts into reality. The same happened with me as well in the form of my friend from Mumbai.

He already lost smell and taste when we met on his return to Vizag.

I went to the airport and received him.

Just like luck favouring the hard work, Vizag’s humidity favoured COVID.

Are you thinking how?

I have oily skin, so I sweat a lot whenever in Vizag. And I failed to keep myself from touching my face due to that excess sweat.

And boom! I was the only one to be tested positive in 4 of us who received our friend from Mumbai.

Let’s get into how I felt after meeting him and my thought process after testing to be positive.

COVID Stage

The next night I returned to Hyderabad from Vizag, and I was feeling discomfort. I got a temperature, headache and a bit of dizziness. I am so stubborn and reached the room and took a rest.

I felt better after two days, and my friend called me to say that he got tested to be positive for COVID and asked me to get tested as a precaution.

And you know the outcome of the test as I am writing this article. I got antigen and RT PCR test, and the result is positive in both cases.

Mine is asymptomatic though I used to feel a bit of uneasiness.

Now is the exciting part regarding how I handled the situation.

My life is an open book in front of my mom, but I haven’t told my mom about this as it will worry her a lot, and I don’t want to burden her mentally.

So, I haven’t told anyone at home and took the medicines I received from the Telangana govt, the antibiotics suggested by my friend, immunity boosters from our company (iPulse and iCoffee), and ayurvedic medicines.

Yes, I took measures from all directions, strengthening immunity, allopathy and Ayurveda.

Throughout the phase, I stayed strong as I am taking care from all directions.

I used to sleep a lot for almost 12–14 hours which is not my routine. Maybe it’s due to allopathy medicines.

All of my allopathy medicines lasted for one week as I didn’t follow the right directions. It is due to a lack of clarity in the information.

Also, I started feeling better. So, I haven’t focused on using more medicines.

So, officially, now is the time to enter the final stage, which haunts many people.

Post-COVID Stage

I feel there’s something with the medicines which is making us restless after we stop the course.

I used to sleep a lot during the medication term but suddenly started feeling restless at night. I used to not fall asleep at all till 4:00 to 6:00 am despite all of my attempts.

It happened with even one of my friends who gifted me COVID.

I experimented with different things to fall asleep for ten days:

  1. Listening to sleeping music.
  2. Watching videos on falling asleep fast.
  3. Tried to stain eyes to fall asleep.
  4. Reading books
  5. Listening to audiobooks
  6. I tried to calm my mind without thoughts but no use because of restlessness
  7. Not sleeping during day time though I missed sleep at night

One of my friends suggested keeping myself busy with work to get the sleeping routine back.

I tried that as well. But no luck.

I used to sleep between 4:00 and 6:00 am and cover 6–7 hours of sleep. During all of this, my internship has started with Digital Deepak on 25th April 2021.

On that day, I have slept at 8:00 am and woke up at 10:45 am to attend the welcome webinar.

Also, I started working on DMOS, which is the best tool for freelancers in digital marketing.

So, I started being very busy all day due to the internship and working with the new tool.

It helped me in switching to a normal sleep pattern.

And those days are unforgettable in my life. I never thought that I would experience all of that but happy as everything happens for a reason.

The reason for writing this article is to help others realise that you are not alone.

The real problem is not the problem but our attitude towards the problem. And the majority feel that only they are facing that specific problem. It makes such people more vulnerable.

And I intend to give my story to let you know that you are not alone, and this too shall pass.

I would love to see your thoughts. I hope you find this article helpful.
